Count down to a date you choose

Use count down for a target date rather than a past starting point. Despite this URL's legacy name, Counter is a web tracker; it does not provide a native lock-screen or home-screen widget.

Set the date you actually mean

Create a counter in countdown mode and choose the future target. For a target of October 15, October 10 shows 5 days remaining. The target date itself shows zero.

The display stays at zero after the target passes. It does not automatically schedule next year's birthday, move a missed deadline, or become a negative overdue timer.

Reschedule with Edit date

Open the detail page and use the calendar button to change the target date. Countdown counters do not use the count-up reset action, because resetting to today would destroy your future target.

For an annually recurring event, set the next occurrence yourself. Verify the year as well as the month and day. The app is a calendar-date tracker, not a time-of-day alarm.

Choose a reliable reminder for critical dates

Counter does not account for statutory business days, court holidays, filing rules, or legally effective service dates. Obtain authoritative deadlines from the appropriate professional or official source.

You can add the website to a mobile home screen for quicker access where supported, but this opens the web app. Optional notifications depend on browser permissions and delivery; keep another reminder for anything critical.
